Alexandra Tyson

Alexandra Tyson is a recent graduate of the MA in art education at NYU.  She now teaches art full time at the Believe Southside Charter High School in Brooklyn.  Prior to her graduate studies, Alex worked as a teaching artist with a variety of community-based art organizations in both the New York and Washington DC metropolitan areas.  In 2006, she started her own organization "Power Palette Workshops", which offered free art education services to incarcerated youth.  Her own art (oil and acrylic painting, sculpture) deals with the issues of race, gender, and class and how these relate to mass incarceration of youth in urban areas.
