Olukemi Ilesanmi
Grantmaking Program Coordinator
Creative Capital Foundation
At Creative Captial, Ms. Ilesanmi shepherds the annual process that selects artist-grantees, and then works closely with artists to realize their projects. Prior to joining the foundation, she spent six years as a curator at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. While at the Walker Ms. Ilesanmi organized several exhibitions including The Squared Circle: Boxing in Contemporary Art, named the top contemporary art exhibition of 2003 by the Minneapolis Star Tribune. She also ran their Visual Arts artist residency program, working with such luminaries as Julie Mehretu and Catherine Opie. She has also written extensively on artists such as Glenn Ligon, Nari Ward, and Allora & Calzadilla. In 2004, Ms. Ilesanmi served on the board of No Name Exhibitions at the Soap Factory in Minneapolis. She holds a BA in Afro-American Studies from Smith College, and often volunteers for feminist, political, and queer causes.

Emma Taati

Emma Taati is a research funding consultant specializing in African Diaspora Studies, Cultural Studies, and Gender & Sexuality Studies. Her professional background is in foundation relations and strategic communications. Ms. Taati is an avid blogger, and shares her commitment to collective enfranchisement with a lively community of Brooklyn-based activists and artists.

Jacquette M. Timmons

Sterling Investment Management, Inc
Jacquette M. Timmons is the founder and CEO of Sterling Investment Management, an investment education and financial coaching firm. She has worked in the investment industry for nearly 20 years, dedicating the last ten to teaching intelligent people how to be smarter with their money. Ms. Timmons holds an MBA in finance from Fordham and a BS in marketing from FIT. She is a member of the NY Chapter of the National Black MBA Association and is on the Board of Directors for Non-Profit Connection, an organization that provides management assistance to non-profit organizations. She is also a former Board member of the NY Chapter of the National Association of Securities Professionals, an organization she helped to form.

Risë Wilson
Founder
The Laundromat Project, Inc.
Risë holds a BA in African-American Studies from Columbia, and an MA in Africana Studies from NYU. After conceiving the idea for The Laundromat Project in 1999, Risë tailored her career path to bring the organization to fruition. She gained a practical education in Organizational Excellence and Arts Administration by working for institutions like ARAMARK, the Painted Bride, MoMA, and ICP. She also became a printmaker, working primarily in linoleum and silkscreen. Recognized as one of the "World's Best Emerging Social Entrepreneurs" Risë is a 2004 Echoing Green fellow and prior recipient of fellowships from both CAA and NYU. Risë periodically serves as a consultant to other non-profits, offering expertise in Visual Literacy, Curriculum Development, and Strategic Planning. She also teaches at the Parsons School of Design, helping product design students apply their talents to the public sphere.

Dawn McGee

Dawn has a passion for building and growing organizations. As an undergraduate in the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania's business program, she focused her studies on venture development and the challenges of entrepreneurship. Since then she has guided a number of organizations through the venture evaluation and planning process. She has also managed key organizational growth and survival projects. Dawn's former clients include non-profits Career Gear and the American Society of Microbiology. Dawn has an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business, where she was a graduate fellow for the Stewart Satter Program in Social Entrepreneurship. She is a current resident of Brooklyn.

Alea Woodlee

Funders' Collaborative on Youth Organizing
Alea serves as the Interim Executive Director at the Funders' Collaborative on Youth Organizing (FCYO) where she is leading the organization through a leadership transition and continues her focus on the management and development of the organization's mission to move increased foundation resources to youth organizing nationwide. A long-time activist, Alea formerly served as the Executive Director at the Pro-Choice Public Education Project. Through research, communications, media, and grassroots outreach and education Alea was a leader in building the capacity of grassroots organizations to more effectively outreach to young people and engage them as activists for reproductive justice. Hailed as one of Choice USA's "Top 30 Activists Under 30" in 2003, Alea has extensive experience as a trainer and facilitator. She currently serves on the board of Political Research Associates, and was the founding board chair of The Laundromat Project. She is a current resident of Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
