Employment Opportunities at The LP
Teaching Artist
DEADLINE: Friday, April 9, 2010
Position Description
The Laundromat Project seeks five (5) Teaching Artists skilled in book making, carpentry, photography, painting & drawing, sculpture & 3D projects, textiles or another set of creative practices that can be adapted to outdoor, drop-in workshops, to participate in our art education program, Works in Progress. Teaching duties will include leading a series of art-making workshops at an active Harlem laundromat; facilitating drop-in activities at summer festivals; and other similar activities to take place in the public sphere between May and October 2010. Members of The LP teaching faculty will also have access to other opportunities within the organization, including establishing an annual contract if there is a mutual fit.

Successful candidates will have:
• 2+ years experience working as a Teacher or Teaching Artist, preferably in community-based settings
• Excellent people skills
• Capacity to apply their creative practice to larger issues, themes, or topics that have social relevance
• Experience working with a range of age groups simultaneously
• Ability to problem solve
• A creative practice that can be adapted to outdoor workshops
Ideal candidates will also live in Harlem and have NYCDOE certification
To Apply
Interested candidates should submit the following materials to Petrushka Bazin at petrushka[at]laundromatproject.org by April 9, 2010:
