Gather & Act 2020
What is Gather & Act?
Gather & Act, a virtual watch party event, will take place Tuesday, September 29, 6:30 to 7:30pm (EDT), and celebrate The Laundromat Project’s 15th Anniversary while highlighting the collaborations and impacts our Create Change artists and likeminded nonprofit organizations and partners have been able to make in our communities over the years.
During the evening program, we will honor the work of community-based organizations Brooklyn Movement Center, Harriet’s Apothecary, Kelly Street Garden, and North Star Fund’s Let Us Breathe Fund by acknowledging them as Community Impact Honorees.
In addition, we will feature five new commissioned works by LP commissioned artists Abby Dobson, LaTasha N. Nevada Diggs, Karina Aguilera Skvirsky, Jaime Sunwoo, and Katherine Toukhy, created as part of the Park Avenue Armory and National Black Theatre’s 100 Years | 100 Women program collaboration. Each piece celebrates the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage and the power that artists bring when amplifying civic engagement.
In recognition of their work, each Community Impact Honoree organization will receive a portion of the proceeds from the sale of tickets.
