Afromystic E.P: Exploring Gender Fluidity in the Divine with Seyi Adebanjo

Afromystic E.P. (Experimental Project) explored the presence of queer, transgender, gender non-conforming, two spirit, and LGBTQ religious practitioners in Yorùbá/Òrìṣà mythologies and traditions. Through a series of workshop intensives and public readings, 2019 Artist-in-Residence Seyi Adebanjo created a space to examine gender fluidity in these religious traditions as a means to empower a marginalized community that has historically been forgotten and overlooked. Project participants claimed space within these stories by intimately analyzing and interrogating religious readings at public reading events.
