Misra Walker – Coco Climate Cart

Hunts Point/Longwood

For her residency project, Misra Walker uses a coco helado cart, an icon in the Latino Bronx community, to document the impact of climate change on communities of color like Hunts Point/Longwood by combining statistics with memories from community members of how climate change has impacted them whether in the Bronx or back home in the Caribbean. The fully functioning cart uses a pollution monitor to track the quality of air and temperature in the neighborhood and maps out the changes that occur. Residents will be able to interact by sharing a memory in exchange they receive a free frozen dessert.
