BIO

Denae Hannah, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, is a dance comedian, social entrepreneur, and the CEO of Denae Dance Theatre & DNA Comedy. Self-described as Southern Sophistaratchet Ignantelligent, Denae creates insightful absurdity with race, gender, & the daily hustle. She received her B.A. in Drama from Stanford University, M.F.A. in Performance & Choreography from Florida State University and currently studies comedy on scholarship at Upright Citizens Brigade. She is on the executive committee of the DanceNYC Junior Committee, is president of Stanford in Entertainment NYC and also serves on the board of Sweet Enuff, a youth outreach organization committed to diabetes and obesity prevention through dancing and fun health coaching. Ms. Hannah was a 2012 EMERGENYC artist with NYU’s Hemispheric Institute for Performance & Politics, a 2012-2013 Commissioned Artist at Stanford University, and a 2013 TEDxStanford performer.
